La Rioja are among the favourites for the World Cup in Russia and Ramos has called for unity ahead of a mouth-watering clash with club-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.
‘You have to turn the page as quickly as possible,’ he said on Thursday.
‘It hasn’t been a pleasant time but the sooner we leave the subject behind, the better.
‘We all admire Hierro. We know him from a long time ago and he is the ideal man for this moment.
‘I want to leave, this press conference is like a funeral. We’re starting the World Cup tomorrow, which is a fabulous event.’
