In the latest embarrassment in the Markle saga Samantha, 53, defended her “freedom of speech” after her half-sister was allegedly upset by her interviews.
Samantha, who claimed her relationship with Meghan is “strained”, said her half-sister is upset about her relative airing opinions about her.
In an interview given to US media TMZ, the mother-of-three said: “If it’s about my life or my father’s there is something in this country called freedom of speech.
“She doesn’t have a copyright on that and she’s not going to tell me that I can’t speak about my life or my father’s life where its a matter of public self-defence.”
She accused the media of “disparaging” her family, adding: “I’m not going to take it.”
She continued her tirade against the future wife of Prince Harry, saying: “She’s not qualified to suggest that I don’t (understand) any law in this country.
“This is not Great Britain.
“I am a United States citizen and that’s all there is to it.
“She’s way out of her league to tell me that I can’t speak.
“I’m not saying anything about her but if I’m talking about my life or my father’s she has to respect it.”
Samantha, the daughter of Thomas Markle from his first marriage, also claimed she had bought a “sentimental” wedding gift for the royal couple.
She said: “I would like to give it to her in person, but if not I will certainly send it.”
Samantha yesterday also waded in to the row that has seen her father being accused of faking pictures for money, claiming it was “her fault” if the media had attacked him.
Writing on Twitter she said: “The media was unfairly making him look bad so I suggested he do positive photos for his benefit, and the benefit of the royal family.
“We had no idea he would be taken advantage of.
“It was not for money.”
Samantha has launched a series of accusations towards her half-sister since her relationship with Prince Harry was made public in 2016.
In the past she claimed that Meghan has always been attracted to the Prince because she was “ambitious”.
And after having announced her decision to publish her memoirs about being related to a “pushy princess”, she said her sister should be prepared for some uncomfortable revelations.
