Readers voted in our poll on whether Her Majesty should say sorry to the Duchess of Sussex in the wake of the bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview. The poll asked: “Prince Harry wants Queen to apologise to Meghan Markle – do you agree?”
A huge 98 percent (14,723) of respondents said no, while just two percent (295) said yes. 60 voters opted for ‘not sure’.
Commenting on the poll, one reader insisted: “Our beloved Queen has absolutely nothing to apologise for.”
Another fumed: “Harry needs to get down on his knees and apologise to his grandmother the Queen.”
A third added: “The Queen has absolutely nothing to apologise for. Just who do these two think they are?”
Another blasted: “They are the ones who should be apologising to everyone!”
A fifth asked: “Will Harry’s tantrums never end?”
Our poll comes after claims Harry is “hooked on being right” and wants “some form of apology” from the Royal Family.
A source told Us Weekly: “The problem with Harry is that he’s hooked on being right and regardless of saying he wants to move on from this, he won’t back down until he gets some form of apology from his family.”
US presenter Gayle King claimed Harry had spoken to his father Prince Charles and brother Prince William following the tell-all interview.
But she said the talks were not productive.
Meghan and Harry are living in California after quitting as working royals in March 2020.
Royal author Penny Junor accused the Sussexes of betraying the Royal Family in the year since Megxit.
Ms Junor said: “When Harry and Meghan left a year ago people were surprised and disappointed because they were a great pair.
“Harry was a hugely popular royal and Meghan was a great asset to the family.
“A year on, I think a lot of people are really angry and think that they have betrayed their family and lobbed a huge bomb into the heart of the institution and sort of taken a swipe at the UK as well.”
