And for the first time ever, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, was spotted wearing one of the special brooches at yesterday’s commemoration.

The brooch has an incredibly special meaning for Kate, as her paternal grandmother worked as part of the effort to decipher the German Enigma machine during the war.

Kate’s grandmother Valerie Glassborow, and her twin sister Mary, both worked at Bletchley Park.
